RIGHT TO ADEQUATE STANDARD OF LIVING
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Negros | PRESS STATEMENT | Reference: BAYAN-Negros Public Information Department | Mobile #:09217859554 | The more Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. talks about his concept of peace, the more we suspect that he is equating it with business.
As the governor’s mind is kept busy with the multi-million selling and leasing of Capitol properties, he is also calling on armed groups particularly the New People’s Army to lay down their arms and join what he calls as the “mainstream” of society.
Church people, workers organizations, and labor rights advocates that comprise the newly formed Church People-Workers Solidarity (CWS) united in the call to legislate a substantial wage hike and urged PNoy to make it a priority bill for the opening of Congress on his State of Nation Address.
The Center for Trade Union and Human Rights is appalled by the Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Award given on May 5 by the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) thirteen companies, a number of which have records of union busting and labor rights violations.
