In light of Typhoon Pablo, large scale mining and foreign agribusiness operations must be stopped to avert disasters. (Manilakbayan) We, Mindanao environment advocates and indigenous leaders and families and relatives of victims of mining instigated killings who are now in  Manila for Manilakbayan, are concerned over typhoon Pablo hitting our respective municipalities and cities in Mindanao.

The Center for Trade Union and Human Rights is appalled by the Kapatiran sa Industriya (KAPATID) Award given on May 5 by the Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) thirteen companies, a number of which have records of union busting and labor rights violations.

September 24, 2010 - Davao City- Urban poor residents in Agdao held a dramatic 30-minute “lights off” last Monday to protest the power rate increase. The Lihok Agdao alliance, composed of mostly urban poor women from Brgy. Duterte, Centro, Agdao Proper, San Antonio, Ubalde and Lapu-Lapu linked with other members of Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) and held a picket rally at R. Castilo St. Ubalde.

August 6, 2010 - Davao City- Members of militant urban poor group, mostly women and mothers from Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY,) staged a protest rally here today in front of the Davao Light and Power Company to protest the imposition of 0.8 centavos per kilowatt hour power rate increase which will start this month.
